Small Groups

What is a small group?

Small groups are a way we open ourselves up to transformation, by coming together in community and having conversations about God and faith. According to Henri Nouwen, “Community is not an organization; community is a way of living: you gather around you people with whom you want to proclaim the truth that we are the beloved sons and daughters of God.”

Group participants do not need to attend Monroe FMC and many of these groups remain open to new members throughout the session.

Host a group

Groups don’t have to be fancy or complicated – invite your friends and talk about what Jesus is doing in your lives. Has God been prompting you to jump into hosting a group? Talk with Pastor Kevin or Pastor Melanie to work out the details and ease your nerves. You can do this! A new session of Small Groups starts every quarter and our church needs you!

Transforming community is men and women gathered around the presence of Christ for the purpose of being transformed in Christ’s presence so they can discern and do the will of God. (Ruth Haley Barton)
